We are going to have casulties…

Berlin Marathon Weather

…but it won’t be me 😀

Yes this is the weather forecast for Berlin, Germany, the marathon is on Sunday. Most runners find sunny weather the most difficult marathon weather and many runners complained at the heat during London marathon in April. My nightmare weather would be cold or cold AND rainy. Everyone that knows me have heard about me complaining about being cold so running in sunshine does not bother me too much. But I think I will buy something to cover my head as I do not wish to burn my scalp. Just hope my Sweetie will cope well with the heat.

Shit run!

Went out for a short run just now, it was shit. It went really, really bad. No energi at all, stitches and pain in my chest. Also desperately need new shoes.

I am completely exhausted now, had to lie down on the floor to recover….never had to do that before ever, not even after the marathon.

Min korta springtur gick Ät helvete. Ingen energi, hÄll, ont i bröstet + behöver verkligen nya skor. Helt utmattad nu, var tvungen att lÀgga mig pÄ golvet ett tag för att ÄterhÀmta mig, det har jag aldrig behövt göra för inte ens efter maratonet.

Its Done

Yes, I have added more memory, rebooted my computer to get rid of all the shit and things that did not work. I have installed, new msn, Skype and my webcam. Everything works and it is quicker.
Have not bought the fan and padding yet as I can’t be asked to do it at them moment, but it will be done soon.
I tested the webcam on sweetie this morning and it works, not perfect but he can see me 🙂

But now I have to run, Berlin Marathon is in two weeks time…oh I have been so bad and not practising enough for it :s I was asked by a colleague at work how my running was going, he runs to, I said that I had too little time for running. My colleague did not accept this answer and said it is about priorities, there is always time to run you just need to make it. He is right i would have had the time to run, the truth is I have not prioritiesed it this time. i could have made the time but I prefered to spend more time on my sweetie before his move and when he was working I did things to ensure I did not have to do them when he was home. + I have been a bit down and stressed that he was leaving and was sleeping less then I had for along time due to his late hours just before he moved. In my eyes this was the correct priority even though I will suffer for it in two weeks time.

Nu ska jag ut och springa i parken, Berlin marathon Àr om tvÄ veckor. Har inte trÀnat som jag borde för detta maraton. Har prioriterat tid med sötnos istÀllet samt var lite nere + hade mer sömnbrist Àn normalt innan han flyttade pga de sena timmarna han jobbade just innan flytten. SÄ det kommer nog inte gÄ bÀttre Àn London maraton men i mina ögon sÄ var prioriteringen rÀtt.

Garmin 305, 405 or 310???

I really want to measure my runs more accurately then I have before with my Nike+

I have in the past tried my partners Garmin Forerunner 305, it is more accurate for sure and you can combine it with MapMyRun. I have looked at the Garmin Forerunner 405, at the London Marathon Expo, both the normal and the Garmin Forerunner 405CX. I am tempted by both.
Discussing this with Anders and Petter only makes me more tempted.

But the thing is the slow satelite uptake on the 305 has added some extra time to each of my training rounds. And according to some the 405 has short battery span and does not work perfectly in wet weather conditions….come on I do most running in the UK it rains here…a lot.

But then I found it! The Garmin Forerunner 310XT. I’m in love!

It is rumoured to have a faster satelite uptake then the 305 and it supposedly waterproof, which is good as a thought or two of doing a triathlon has crossed my mind…I sooo want one. They are due out for release in July.

If any of you readers want to give me one of these you will be in my good book forever. Or maybe two as I would love my training buddy and partner to have one too 🙂

Jag vill mÀta mina springrundor lite mer exakt en Nike+ rÀcker inte riktigt lÀngre.

Efter att ha diskuterat detta med Anders och Petter sÄ blir jag bara mer sugen.

Jag gillar 305 men det tar lĂ„ng tid att hitta satellit till den, 405 ska visst ha lite sĂ€mre batteri och inte fungera sĂ„ bra nĂ€r det regnar…men hallĂ„ jag bor i England det regnar alltid hĂ€r.

Men dÄ hittade jag den! The Garmin Forerunner 310XT. Jag Àr kÀr!

Den ska ha snabbare satellit upptagning och vara vattentÀt, vilket Àr passande eftersom nÄgon gÄng kanske jag gör ett Triatlhon.

Om nĂ„gon av mina lĂ€sare vill ge mig en sĂ„dan sĂ„ skulle jag bli för evigt tacksam. Eller kanske tvĂ„ eftersom det skulle vara trevligt om min trĂ€ningskompis och partner hade en ocksĂ„ 🙂

Music to run to???

I have a problem, I don’t have any good music to run to 😩

What I need is fast music with drums, preferably instrumental as often this kind of music are made up of stupid and annoying lyrics like “Blow my whistle” or “Suck my Lollipop”. I am really rubbish at determine music genres so I can’t just go into a shop and buy what I need, and I am getting sick and tired of trawling through the internet when I don’t know properly what to search for. If I would hazard a guess maybe it would be called Techno Trance or electronic but I really have no clue as I normally listen to more alternative music.

So help me find the right kind of music. The nearest thing to what I want is this The Bongo Song but I need more than one song.

Jag har problem att hitta bra springlĂ„tar 😩 Jag vill ha lĂ„tar som har ett snabbt tempo med mycket trummor, gĂ€rna instrumental eftersom mĂ„nga lĂ„tar har sĂ„ tröttsam idiotisk text.
Eftersom jag Àr helt vÀrdelös pÄ musik genres sÄ kan jag inte bara knalla in i nÄgon affÀr och köpa det jag vill ha, det Àr Àven svÄrt att söka pÄ internet nÀr jag inte riktigt vet vad för sökord jag ska knappa in. Skulle jag gissa vad det skulle kallas sÄ Àr det kanske Techno Trance eller kanske Electronic men jag vet inte för vanligen lyssnar jag pÄ mer alternativ musik.

Det nÀrmsta jag hittat till det jag vill ha Àr The Bongo Song. Men en sÄng rÀcker ju inte sÄ hjÀlp mig hitta fler.

Finally the promised pictures….

First the battery ran out and then I got busy but here is finally some pictures of the marathon.

My mantra was “It is only a long training run, it is only a long training run…” pure denial nothing else.

Yes managed to get my face in the paper, shocked as hell when I saw it. This is at around 20 km I am starting to feel tired but DAMN IT I had to beat that big nurse.

37ish km I am in pain
At this stage I have passed sort of 36-37ish km, I am in severe pain and dizzy. Everything was so, so hard and then I saw Sötnos and his family. I so needed you there you gave me the energy to finish.

Marathon report

Yes I have recovered enough now 😉

I slept suprisingly well the night before the marathon and I was not nervous in the morning but I think the reason for this is I managed to fool myself. I told myself that I was just going to run a little bit longer practice run than normal and in a different place and all that mattered was that I ran until the end….guess it worked.

My main problem was that I never eat breakfast, I don’t like it, never have, if I eat before 12ish I feel ill and can’t stop eating for the rest of the day. But you cannot run 42km on an empty stomach, I prepared my breakfast already the day before, left over pasta from my lunch, and I really did try to eat it, I think I managed to eat about 10 pasta shapes before I had to give up. Seems I cannot eat breakfast no matter what’s at stake 😡

We (me & none runner Anders) had planned our route to the start the day before and it went fairly smooth to get to Greenwich.

I started at the Red start and it took about 30 minutes before I got across the start, luckily your time does not start until the chip on your shoe crosses the start line so there was no need to worry about the time.

The start went well and the first 10 km passed easily but then my right ankle started hurting with every step but it did not feel like a serious injury rather just annoying so I ignored it. The atmosphere along the course was fantastic, there were peolpe cheering you on everywhere, shouting your name. Steelbands and drummers, samba bands, orchestras and DJs played as well, there even were belly dancers entertaining you as you ran along.

I could hear everyone that shouted my name but it was really difficult to spot people in the crowd but I did see some of you. Jossan & Paul I heard you guys but I could not see you because where you were I was just in too much pain to focus on trying to spot people.

It was not until about 20 km when it starrted to get hard but up to 30 km it was not difficult anyway because the cheering of the crowd keeps you going. At 30 km it started to get harder but this is where I saw Lepras cheering station, I ran past pointing at them but they did not see that but Liz and Anders I heard you loud and clear when you finally spotted me. The see and hear them really gave me a boost.

Next 5 km was hard but on reaching 35 km OH MY GOD THE PAIN. My legs got really heavy and painful, my ankle hurt even more and the other ankle started hurting as well, if there had been none watching I’m not sure I would have been able to continue, luckily with the crowd watching and screaming “Eva you can do it” I had to do it. I slowed down a bit and drank a bit of water and took my fourth carbohydrate gel (from my Sweded pocket). The last bit was not my fastest but I continued in great pain and got across the finishing line in 4.47.54.

4.47.54 was not the time I had aimed for, ideally I wanted to finish somewhere between 4 and 4.30 but I am happy anyway, it was impossible to run faster in the beginning as there are just too many people in the way on the track. Also since it was my first marathon I am happy just to have finished it. But most importantly I finished the marathon before the 4 Rhinos, 4 Donkeys and 3 Wombles.

After crossing the line every step was painful, knees and ankles were really sore, my thigh muscles were rock hard and kept cramping up but so happy to have done it 🙂
It took a long time to get home because there were just people everywhere. We stopped by Subway on our way home to by sandwiches.

As we got home I noticed that the sun had burnt my face a bit causing a bit of sunstroke headache and my hair was just a salty and messy lump, so I washed it and cut the hair. After this we went to a restaruant with Anders family and ate steak and chips as this is what I really wanted to eat 😀

So was it worth it?

Absolutely, now three days later my joints are fine and only my thighs are sore. Call me foolish but I am already entered into next years London marathon and Berlins marathon in Spetember, have to improve my time you see 😀

Nu har jag ÄterhÀmtat mig nog för att skriva.
Jag var inte alls nervös dagen före och just före starten, jag lÄtsades att det var en lÀngre trÀningsrunda Àn vanligt bara och det fungerade. Var lite orolig eftersom jag som vanligt inte lyckades Àta frukost men jag orkade ju med maran ÀndÄ.

Anders följde mig till starten, men sÄg mig inte springa över startlinjen det tog ca en halvtimme innan jag kom över startlinjen och dÄ hade han gÄtt i tron att han missat mig.
De första 10 km gick lÀtt men sen fik jag ont i höger fotvrist, irriterande men inte allvarligt. det var hÀrlig stÀmning lÀngs hela rutten med musik och underhÄllning och massor som skrek och hejade pÄ oss.

Vid 20 km sÄ började det bli lite jobbigare men med stÀmningen sÄ gick det iallafall, vid 30 km blev det tungt men dÄ hörde jag Liz frÄn Lepra och Anders ropa pÄ mig vid hejar station pÄ mile 19. Detta gav en lite boost. Riktiga pÀrsen kom vid 35 km, varje steg gjorde dÄ ont. Men jag saktade ner tempot lite, tog en fjÀrde Kolhydratsgele och drack lite vatten. Efter detta sÄ tog jag mig i mÄl.

SmĂ€rtan efterĂ„t Ă€r enorm varje steg gör ont men allt Ă€r blandat med glĂ€dje och lĂ€ttnad. BrĂ€nd ansiktet lite i solen som ledde till att jag hade ont i huvudet resten av kvĂ€llen och var tvungen att klippa hĂ„ret lite efterĂ„t eftersom det bara var en stor saltig tova. Vi firade efterĂ„t genom att Ă€ta kött och pommes, precis vad jag ville ha 😀

Nu tre dagar senare sĂ„ har jag bara ont i lĂ„ren kvar, mest nĂ€r jag gĂ„r nerför trappor. Kalla mig galen men jag har anmĂ€lt mig till nĂ€sta Ă„rs maraton och Berlins maraton nu i september 😀
